About Waxahachie - Locate just south of Dallas, Waxahachie is the county seat of Ellis County. With a population of just over 32,000, this small city is the definition of southern hospitality and is full of history.
Waxahachie is home to the popular Scarborough Renaissance Festival and the popular Renaissance fair theme park which is located on southwest side of the town. It has been in operation since 1981 and is open annually during April and May.
During the holiday season, many visitors travel to the Waxahachie area to enjoy the Gingerbread Trail Festival and travel back in time to walk the streets of ancient Bethlehem. In Bethlehem Revisited, tourists are able to walk the streets as Mary and Joseph did on the night of Jesus’ birth and meet innkeepers, merchants, craftsmen, tradesmen and clergy.
