About Dallas –
With a population of more than 1.3M, Dallas is the ninth most populous city in the United States and the third most populous in Texas.
In recent years, Dallas and the surrounding areas has seen a massive real estate boom and is leading the nation in apartment construction and net leasing. Rents have recently reached an all-time high. Single family home sales, both pre-owned and new construction, along with home appreciation are also leading the nation.
Dallas has a strong and growing economy. It is now home to nine Fortune 500 companies with a total of 22 throughout the DFW region, making it the largest concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters.
Dallas ISD –
According to the Council of the Great City Schools, Dallas is one of the nation’s fastest improving districts. It has over 230 schools with an enrollment of approximately 157,000 students.
The Dallas Independent School district is home to numerous National Blue Ribbons schools and is currently seeing one of the highest graduation rates since the 1980s. Approved in 2008, a $1.35 billion bond made it possible for many of the district schools to be renovated and allowed 14 new schools to be built. In addition to the 2008 bond, a $1.6 billion bond program is underway and is scheduled to add or replace nine schools. This bond is will make it possible for students to learn in facilities that are state-of-the-art.
